Steven Slothsburg, who is a three-time All-Star, never let the Toros get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his circle change, to pitch the Rougarous to a win, 5-1. With the win over Cancun, the Rougarous improved to 36-28.

The Rougarous got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jefferson Steelflex. For the game, Steelflex went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave New Orleans a 3-1 lead.
