Deviver Votto, who is tied for 6th in the Champions in strikeouts with 113, was locked in. The right-hander led the Death Valley Scorpions to a 4-3 win against the Cancun Toros at Cari Price Memorial Stadium. The defeat makes Cancun 36-29.

The Scorpions benefited from an error in the bottom of the fifth inning. Death Valley was leading 3-2 when Sting Eucliffe hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Death Valley in front, 4-2.

Eucliffe called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
