With Late Score, Scorpions Beat Apex
|
Leon Rosenthal did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Indianapolis Apex from being beaten, 6-5, to the Death Valley Scorpions at The Brickyard. Rosenthal was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ray Xavier came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. His record now stands at 6-2. Zachary Vega III collected save number 6.
Ted Giannoulas was 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Death Valley. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Giannoulas, who finished 2nd in the Champions in slugging percentage with .617 in 2065, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Indianapolis hurler Flop Quads, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Scorpions a 6-5 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Giannoulas.
The Champions Conference West-leading Scorpions are 45-22.
