Death Valley Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
People outside the ballpark no doubt heard the roar of the crowd as the winning run crossed the plate.
The Death Valley Scorpions picked up a win at Cari Price Memorial Stadium, knocking off the Indianapolis Apex, 3-2. Starting pitcher Billy TheKid played a key role in the triumph. The winner was Ray Xavier in relief. His record improves to 1-5. Romeo McFlourish took the loss.
Yvonne Escence was the walk-off hero for Death Valley. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Scorpions center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," TheKid said after the game.
The victory gives Death Valley a record of 41-26.
