Giannoulas Hits Two Dingers, Scorpions Win, 10-4
|
The Death Valley Scorpions grabbed a win, 10-4, over the Toronto Pathfinders at Cari Price Memorial Stadium. Death Valley first baseman Ted Giannoulas was 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5. Xavier Pruitt, the winner, goes to 4-2. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts over 7 innings. The third-place Scorpions have won 4 in a row.
Death Valley took a 9-4 lead on Giannoulas's 15th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Rory Whittaker in the bottom of the eighth, propelled Death Valley to the win.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Giannoulas.
