Crabs Drop 6-1 Decision to Aviators
|
The Outer Banks Aviators knocked off the Providence Crabs, 6-1, in Legends Conference action at The Island. Outer Banks pitcher and Portland, Oregon, native Jiggs Kingman had an outstanding performance. The winner was Kingman. He threw 5.1 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Dr. Hubert Malbec. By defeating Providence, the second-place Aviators improved to 40-32.
Ángel de la Fuerte had a big run-scoring double for the Aviators in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Outer Banks leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from top prospect Zaxby Chan and swatted a double to center. It was his 26th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Aviators ahead, 3-1.
"Jiggs is a tough competitor," said Outer Banks manager .
