The Death Valley Scorpions defeated the Cancun Toros, 3-2, in Champions Conference action at El Coliseo de los Toros. Death Valley pitcher Jonny Tsunami II had a standout performance. Tsunami II picked up the win for Death Valley, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 9 hits. He now sports a record of 3-5. Ole Serve It Up got credit for the save for Death Valley. It was his 3rd of the year.

Death Valley took a 3-1 lead on Gladdy Vuerrero's 25th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Vuerrero hit in the top of the seventh, left Cancun pitcher Wayne Wheeler shaking his head.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Scorpions manager . "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
