Toros Take Down Pathfinders, 10-4
|
The Cancun Toros trumped the Toronto Pathfinders, 10-4, at El Coliseo de los Toros. Cancun right fielder Troy Murphy was terrific. He went 3-5 with 2 triples and a double, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. J.C. Swishman, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 0. John Cowgill notched his 4th save in 4 chances.
The Toros got a big at-bat from second baseman Victor Cortez. For the game, Cortez was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Cancun a 3-1 lead.
"It feels good to get this one," Cortez told the Cancun Observer.
Cancun now owns a record of 37-23.
