Flamingos Edge Swift Steeds , 3-2
|
The Florida Flamingos faced a tough opponent in State College pitcher Sebastian Telfair, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Mound by a final score of 3-2. Telfair went 5 innings and allowed 1 run. The Swift Steeds , at 11-32, have lost 4 in a row.
Chicago, Illinois-born Marc Southworth came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Flamingos trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Florida on top.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Southworth said.
