Wheelers Deal Ranas 7-6 Loss
|
The Anchorage Wheelers overcame a good performance by Puerto Rico designated hitter Daddy Blaney to knock off Puerto Rico, 7-6, at Kay Faraday Memorial Stadium. Blaney went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Mike Kinsella finished to wrap up his 2nd save. The second-place Wheelers have won 5 straight.
The Ranas had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Wheelers going into the top of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old catcher Daniel Plainview came to the plate. Plainview hit a 2-run home run on a 2-1 sinker from Puerto Rico hurler Batting Practice. It was Plainview's 4th home run of the year.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Plainview told the Anchorage News.
