Anchorage and Amarillo duked it out and the Wheelers came out victorious.

Behind a solid performance from first baseman Curtis Jones, the Anchorage Wheelers defeated the Amarillo Armadillos, 5-2. Jones went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Wheelers. Warren Peace earned the win to go to 4-4. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout in 7 innings of work.

With Anchorage leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Jones hit a 2-run single off Amarillo hurler Harold Smith. It was the 54th hit of the season for Jones and put his team ahead, 3-0.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Jones.
