The Amarillo Armadillos picked up a win at The Jose Forty-Three Stadium, dropping the Chicago Kingpins, 5-1. Junichi Komatsu, who is tied for 10th in the MiLPBE in strikeouts with 50, was the difference-maker. Komatsu yielded 1 run over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-5. The save went to Curve Beckham [BOT], number 5 for him.
Amarillo took a 3-1 lead on Gene Waltkins's 5th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Waltkins hit in the top of the eighth, left Chicago pitcher XJ MacCannon visibly frustrated.
"It never gets old," said Waltkins. "Winning, that is."
The win puts Amarillo at 18-29.
