Crabtin Crunch could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his State College Swift Steeds lost, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Kansas City Hepcats at Count Longardeaux's Strong Badian Dictionary Fo' My Own Words Stadium. Kansas City reliever Bennie Rocker picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Crabtin Crunch shouldered the loss. Dennis Martinez finished to wrap up his 3rd save.

The Hepcats got a big at-bat from center fielder Hoy Four. For the game, Four went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. In the top of the first, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Kansas City a 1-0 lead.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Kansas City manager .

Their 31-16 record puts the Hepcats first in the West Division.
