Starting pitcher Jiggs Kingman pitched well enough to help the Anchorage Wheelers beat the Puerto Rico Ranas, 5-3. Kingman, the winner, moves to 6-4. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 4 walks. The win gives Anchorage a season record of 30-19.
Samie Parker, who is tied for 5th in the MiLPBE in stolen bases with 24, chipped in a 2-run home run for Anchorage in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Parker told the Anchorage Gazette.
