Flamingos Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Bears, 8-6
|
The Brew City Bears got a superb performance from first baseman Lara Croft. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Florida. The Flamingos won the game, 8-6. Croft was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Flaming O'ter earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record is now 2-0. Brew City's current losing streak is now 4 games.
Had Link Althouse not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Althouse hit a 2-run single. That made the score 8-6, in favor of the Flamingos.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Althouse.
