The California Firehawks did just enough to sneak past the Kansas City Hepcats, 3-2, at PBE Bigger Strange Podcast Stadium: Home of the Waterpigeons. California pitcher John Valek IV, in particular, had a standout performance. The win gives California a season record of 33-23.

A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 2nd and one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when first baseman Salvatore Bonpensiero hit a run-scoring single. The Firehawks went on to win.

Afterward, Firehawks manager was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
