Hepcats Fall Short, 2-1, at State College
|
State College used a superb performance from starting pitcher Froggy Dubois to down the Kansas City Hepcats, 2-1. Dubois, now 7-6, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. With the win, State College raised its record to 34-25.
The Hepcats had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Swift Steeds going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old right fielder Tommy Killfigure came to the plate. Killfigure hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch circle change from Kansas City hurler Matt Buster. It was Killfigure's 3rd double of the year.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Killfigure.
