California Beats Anchorage, 5-2
|
The exploits of left fielder Lance Gedra, who leads the MiLPBE in triples with 3, helped the California Firehawks defeat the Anchorage Wheelers, 5-2. Gedra was 4-5 with 4 singles. He scored 2 runs. Getting the save was Anthony De Luca, his 5th. With this game in the books, California is 30-29, Anchorage 25-34.
California used the hitting of Rusty Menard to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Firehawks on top, 2-0. For the game, Menard had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
California manager was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
