Crabs Eke Out 1-0 Win Versus San Antonio
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Providence Crabs and the San Antonio Sloths, pitcher LeHarm James was the difference between victory and defeat. The Providence right-hander earned accolades in the 1-0 Crabs win. James got the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. James allowed no runs. Providence is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 3rd win in 12 games.
The Sloths had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Crabs going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 2066 Most Valuable Player Award winner Philip Alou came to the plate. Alou hit a solo home run on a 1-1 fastball from San Antonio hurler Cash Considerations. It was Alou's 3rd home run of the year.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Alou said.
