California Firehawks starter John Valek IV turned in a top-notch performance against the Anchorage Wheelers at PBE Bigger Strange Podcast Stadium: Home of the Waterpigeons. The result was a win for the Firehawks, 4-1. The Firehawks raised their record to 34-30.
The game hit a turning point in the bottom of the fifth inning, when the Firehawks were trailing 1-0. Slate Grey delivered a two-out 2-run single for California, catapulting his team into the lead.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Grey said after the game.
