The Anchorage Wheelers beat the Puerto Rico Ranas by a score of 9-7. Anchorage right fielder Speedy Gonzalez deserved the lion's share of the credit. Gonzalez went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Wheelers. Picking up the save was Kip Treadwell, his 6th. Puerto Rico is in the throes of a 11-game skid.

Gonzalez contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Anchorage in the bottom of the sixth. With his team trailing 7-6, Gonzalez took a sinker from Kerry Berry and stroked the home run to left. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Wheelers to leap in front, 8-7.
