David Sears was outstanding against State College. The right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the MiLPBE with a 7.3 K/9 rate, had a circle change that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Firehawks 7-3 win. California reliever Jonny Hammersticks picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Ryusei Nekomata took the loss. The current losing streak for State College has reached 5 games.

Had Goro Majima not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Majima hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Firehawks.
