Kingpins Get One-Run Win at Florida
|
Florida Man Park was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
The Chicago Kingpins got a good effort from starter Nicholas Huizenga in defeating the Florida Flamingos at Florida Man Park. The final score was 1-0. In 6 innings, Huizenga surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Picking up the save was Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, his 8th.
The Flamingos had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Kingpins going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old left fielder Lee Decantour came to the plate. Decantour hit a run-scoring double on a 1-0 cutter from Florida hurler Stu Macher. It was Decantour's 10th double of the year.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Huizenga.
Chicago, with the win, sits at 21-45.
