The Kansas City Hepcats overcame a good performance by Anchorage left fielder Enrique Checo to knock off Anchorage, 9-8, at Center for Kansas City Kids That Can't Read Good. Checo went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The slumping Wheelers have lost 6 straight.

Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 21-year old designated hitter Thomas Saint-John had a real shot to win the game. Anchorage pitcher George Fantobens was determined not to let it happen. But with no outs, Saint-John hit a run-scoring single. The Hepcats had a walk-off triumph.

"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Saint-John said.
