With 5-3 Win, Armadillos Improve to 35-31
|
The Amarillo Armadillos locked up a win at The Burrow Presented By Frankie's Fun Bites, knocking off the Puerto Rico Ranas, 5-3. On the mound for Amarillo was right-hander Jasper Windt. He played a major role in the triumph. In 7.2 innings, Windt surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Today's win puts Amarillo at 35-31, while Puerto Rico falls to 10-56.
Mortimer Dog had a big 2-run triple for the Armadillos in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Amarillo leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from 31-year old right-handed pitcher Batting Practice [BOT] and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Armadillos ahead, 3-0.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Windt. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
