Armadillos Turn Away Swift Steeds , 6-4
Behind a solid performance from catcher Brian Payne, the Amarillo Armadillos defeated the State College Swift Steeds , 6-4. Payne went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Armadillos. The triumph puts Amarillo at 42-27 for the season.

The Armadillos got a big hit from shortstop Sand Shrew. In the bottom of the fifth, Shrew pounded a bases-clearing double to left. His 10th double of the season put the Armadillos ahead, 6-4.

"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Payne.
