Briggs Helps Florida Cruise to 11-3 Win
|
The Florida Flamingos beat the Puerto Rico Ranas, 11-3, at Kay Faraday Memorial Stadium. The win was due in part to third baseman Bobby Briggs, who went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The Flamingos, now 39-30, have won 4 in a row.
McScootie Fortune came through with a big-time hit for Florida. The left fielder smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 6-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It's always fun to score a lot of runs," said Briggs.
