The home crowd had a good time watching the Chicago Kingpins and Florida Flamingos get after it.
Getting offensive support from Jim Hawkins, the Florida Flamingos topped the Chicago Kingpins, 8-1. Hawkins was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Flamingos. Jay Kirkpatrick, the winner, improved to 7-6. He held the Kingpins to 1 run on 4 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2.
Hawkins contributed in the bottom of the second. With the bases loaded, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat among others that helped Florida get the win.
"It was a good win," said Florida manager . "Not without blemish, but good."
The win puts Florida at 44-27 this season.
