The Amarillo Armadillos faced a tough opponent in Louisville pitcher Josh Harper, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Colby Koffman Championship Field at The Jungle by a final score of 7-5. Harper went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Tayalamp Battalemo earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 5-7. After today's action, Amarillo sits at 30-42, while Louisville falls to 44-28.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Tony Simms Jr came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Louisville pitcher Glenn Snaps, he hit a 1-2 cutter for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Amarillo on top, 7-5.
"Enjoyed this one," Simms Jr told the Amarillo Daily News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
