Due in large part to catcher Homer Simpson, the Florida Flamingos sunk the California Firehawks, 8-3. Simpson went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Doc Rock picked up the win, lifting his record to 3-8 on the season. He struck out 2 and walked 1 in 6.2 innings, while yielding 2 runs. Jimmy Key-Largo [BOT], summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.

The Firehawks had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Flamingos going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old left fielder Peyton Shoelace came to the plate. Shoelace hit a 2-run double on a first pitch cutter from California hurler Ima DudeMan. It was Shoelace's 9th double of the year.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Shoelace told a Florida Bulletin reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."

The Flamingos win now puts them at 31-43.
