Wheelers Sneak By Flamingos, 8-7
|
Anchorage and Florida duked it out and the Wheelers came out victorious.
The Anchorage Wheelers beat the Florida Flamingos, 8-7, in part because of second baseman Robert Oliver. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Willie MacDougal, 2-4, earned the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. Earning his 6th save of the year was Dahmir Lucas.
Stetson Laramie was 1 for 2 with 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Anchorage. The 22-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With no one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 7-7 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Zachary Vega III. It was his 53rd RBI of the season.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager .
The current losing streak for Florida has reached 4 games.
