Armadillos Beat Visiting Hepcats, 4-2
|
Behind the hitting of Tony Simms Jr, the Amarillo Armadillos stopped the Kansas City Hepcats, 4-2. Simms Jr was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Armadillos. VJ Edgecombe, who is tied for 5th in the MiLPBE in quality starts with 10, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 7 strikeouts. The Armadillos, at 37-37, sit in third place in the West Division.
Kevin McMan had a big run-scoring double for the Armadillos in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Amarillo leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 23-year old left-handed pitcher Bendrick Hollows and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Armadillos ahead, 4-2.
McMan called the win "a collective effort."
