Firehawks Shut Out Kingpins, 5-0
|
Nick Gilmore never let the Kingpins get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Firehawks to a win, 5-0. In 7 innings, Gilmore surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. The Firehawks go to 37-38, putting them third in the West Division.
The Firehawks got a big hit from shortstop Dirks Kryptonite. In the bottom of the fifth, Kryptonite pounded a 2-run double to center. His 6th double of the season put the Firehawks ahead, 3-0.
Kryptonite told a California Citizen reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
