Hepcats Popped by Wheelers, 8-3
|
The Kansas City Hepcats got a superb performance from left fielder Bobby Cru, but the Anchorage Wheelers still won the game, 8-3. Cru went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. Bobby Winner earned the save for Anchorage, his 3rd of the year. The Hepcats, at 31-45, have lost 4 straight games.
Anchorage used a well-timed hit by Brayden Verity to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Wheelers ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Said losing manager : "We just didn't get it done tonight."
