Hall of Fame Honors Beta Chapler
Wednesday, January 3rd , 2074
It was announced today by Pro Baseball Experience officials that renowned bullpen ace Beta Chapler has been inducted into the league's Hall of Fame. The ceremony was held yesterday and attended by many of the current Hall of Fame members.
In his famed career Chapler registered 140 saves in 591 game appearances, ending up with a 42-46 won-loss record and a 3.03 ERA. He chalked up 1089 strikeouts in 882 innings, while limiting other teams to a .232 batting average.
Chapler described his feelings during his induction speech, commenting, "When you're playing, awards don't seem like much. Then, you get older and all of it becomes more precious. It is nice to be remembered."
Chapler retired from baseball at the age of 34.
His longtime manager also spoke at the ceremony, stating, "As a pitcher he had it all... poise, confidence, control, great movement... and Beta wasn't afraid to pitch inside. He lit up the room when he came in. He was a joy to be around. Beta loved playing baseball."
