von Caliente Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Boise
Monday, September 14th , 2076
Vancouver second baseman Enrique von Caliente went 0-for-4 in Vancouver's 3-1 triumph over the Boise Raptors, snapping his 21-game hitting streak.
von Caliente spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later."
"I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though."
When von Caliente made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending.
"There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," Raptors manager said of von Caliente's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here."
This year, von Caliente is hitting .315, produced 56 RBIs and 15 home runs, scored 51 times and gotten on base at a .394 rate.
