McDaniel Hit String Snapped at 29
Friday, July 31st , 2071
Shrimp McDaniel saw his 29-game hitting streak wither and die today during the Outer Banks Aviators win over Toronto at The Island. The 31-year-old right fielder was held hitless in 4 at-bats by the Toronto Pathfinders, but his teammates produced enough offense to take the game, 1-0.
"Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat McDaniel told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 29 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good."
This year McDaniel is batting .341 with 9 home runs. He has scored 38 runs and driven in 45.
