Wheelers End Ruiz's Streak Saturday, September 7th , 2058 Amarillo Armadillos catcher Leonidas Ruiz and his hot bat finally met their match today at Balto Memorial Field at The Igloo. The Anchorage Wheelers snapped his 22-game hitting string, holding Ruiz hitless in 4 at-bats and also whipping Amarillo for good measure. "We're real pleased with this one," Wheelers manager said. "Nobody wants to be on the wrong end of a streak like that, and clobbering Amarillo makes it even sweeter." This season Ruiz has delivered 140 hits in 429 at-bats for a .326 average with 20 home runs. He is getting on base at a .386 clip and his totals also include 80 RBIs and 64 runs scored. This year Ruiz has played in 102 games. |
