3 Bombs for Zak Johnson III Friday, May 6th , 2067 California Firehawks designated hitter Zak Johnson III sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Florida Flamingos, Johnson III told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Johnson III pushed the Firehawks past the Flamingos, 8-5. To go along with the homers, he collected 7 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Johnson III told reporters after the game. Zak Johnson III hit a two-run home run off Wade Cilliams Jr. in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Gabriel Finley in the 6th, struck out in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Colt Falcon in the 10th. In this current campaign Johnson III is hitting at a .509 clip with 5 home runs and 14 RBIs. |
