Louisville Snaps Dog Streak at 20 Sunday, September 3rd , 2073 Late in the game, all eyes in Colby Koffman Championship Field at The Jungle were on Mortimer Dog as he stepped into the batter box. His 20-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Dog, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end. If there was a silver lining for Dog, it was that his Amarillo Armadillos won the game anyway, stopping the Louisville Lemurs by the score of 6-2. "Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Dog told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 20 straight games. It's something I will always remember." Dog is currently hitting at a .338 pace with 11 home runs and 82 RBIs. |
