Louisville Halts Martin's Hitting Steak Thursday, August 29th , 2075 Amarillo left fielder Ben Martin went 0-for-5 in Amarillo's 12-3 triumph over the Louisville Lemurs, snapping his 23-game hitting streak. Martin spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later." "I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though." When Martin made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending. "There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," Lemurs manager said of Martin's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here." In 68 games this season, Martin has batted at a .302 pace with 85 hits and 13 home runs. |
