20-Game Hitting Streak for MeHire Sunday, September 15th , 2069 The California Firehawks may have proven to be mere mortals today as they lost 9-3 to the Amarillo Armadillos, but Kanutake MeHire continued to hit like a god. The second baseman collected 1 hit in 4 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. "MeHire is playing great and is on fire right now," Firehawks manager said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins." MeHire was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Kanutake MeHire singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 6th and struck out in the 8th. This year MeHire is batting .309 with 136 hits and 15 home runs. He has scored 66 times and has batted in 55 runs. |
