Amarillo Stops Shower Hit Streak Sunday, June 23rd , 2080 It was the best of both worlds for the Amarillo Armadillos at The Burrow Presented By Frankie's Fun Bites, as they defeated the State College Swift Steeds , 3-2, and also snapped Rice Shower's 24-game hitting streak. The 22-year-old State College shortstop failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Shower, we just wanted to win the game," said Armadillos skipper . "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Shower frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." At present, Shower is batting .355 with 65 hits and 2 home runs. He has knocked in 26 runs and scored 27 times. |
