Scorpions Earn 1-0 Home Win
|
The Death Valley Scorpions went home winners at Cari Price Memorial Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Always A. Bummus. Bummus stifled the Detroit Demons, enabling Death Valley to grab the 1-0 win. The winning pitcher was Bummus, now 11-4. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Death Valley is now 60-39, 4 games up in the Champions Conference West.
The Demons had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Scorpions going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old left fielder Stelle came to the plate. Stelle hit a run-scoring double on a 2-2 curveball from Detroit hurler Remy Lebeau. It was Stelle's 32nd double of the year.
"Always A. just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Death Valley manager .
