Boise Tops Vancouver, 11-2
|
The Boise Raptors beat the Vancouver Vandals, 11-2, at The Scudder Forty-Three Stadium. The win was due in part to second baseman Shane Ziegler, who went 2-3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Boise pitcher Femini Nomenon got the win, upping his record to 8-8. Maurice Bernard got the loss. The first-place Raptors, at 50-42, now lead their division by 3 games.
Boise used the bat of Dan Johnston to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Raptors ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Boise manager .
