Firehawks 5-1 Winners Over Florida
|
The California Firehawks downed the Florida Flamingos, 5-1, at PBE Bigger Strange Podcast Stadium: Home of the Waterpigeons. Stellar pitching by Jonny Tom had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the MiLPBE with a 1.22 WHIP, handcuffed his opponent all game. Tom, now 10-6, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The 4th-place Firehawks have won 5 in a row.
The Firehawks got a big at-bat from center fielder Clarke Maxx. For the game, Maxx went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 4th home run of the season gave California a 2-1 lead.
