Kingpins Lose By a Run at Kansas City, 4-3
|
Starting pitcher Wombat Jones pitched well enough to help the Kansas City Hepcats beat the Chicago Kingpins, 4-3. Jones picked up the win for Kansas City, going 5.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 10-5. Joe Degen nailed down his 17th save.
The Hepcats got a big at-bat from third baseman David Doug. For the game, Doug was 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 16th double of the season gave Kansas City a 3-2 lead.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Doug told the Kansas City News.
Kansas City, now 59-42, holds down second place in the West Division.
