Critical Game 5 Goes to Host Vandals, 5-4
Game 5 was big. So was Chuck Nasty.

In leading Vancouver to a crucial 5-4 victory over the New York Voyagers at The Thunderdome, the Vancouver starter rose to the occasion, tossing 7 good innings. Nasty threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball as the Vandals defended their home field to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Conference Finals.

Had Steven Strange not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Strange hit a 2-run double. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Vandals.

Nasty said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."

Game 6 is scheduled for Wednesday at Vaughn's House in Providence.
