The Death Valley Scorpions got a strong 6 innings from left-hander Always A. Bummus today but failed to take Game 1 of the World Series from the Buffalo Surge. Bummus held the Surge to 2 runs on 6 strong innings but Buffalo took the game by a score of 2-1 and now lead the best-of-7 series, 1-0.

Razmataz Buckshank, the 29-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Buckshank contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put Buffalo up, 2-1.

"We found a way to get it done," Buckshank said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Cari Price Memorial Stadium in Providence.
