The Indianapolis Apex and Buffalo Surge provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Buffalo Surge powered past the Indianapolis Apex, 8-7, at The Brickyard. Homer Slamson went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times, to lead the charge. Indianapolis, with the loss, is 4-3.

The Surge got a big hit from center fielder Itsumi Meo. Facing Indianapolis pitcher Skyler Stevens in the top of the eighth, Meo pounded a run-scoring double to center. His 1st double of the season put the Surge ahead, 8-1.

"If we keep winning the close games," Slamson said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
