The home crowd had a good time watching the Vancouver Vandals and Buffalo Surge get after it.

The Vancouver Vandals got a sterling performance from pitcher Holly Sheet, but the Buffalo Surge still prevailed, 4-3. Sheet threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Buffalo is now 34-35, Vancouver 47-22.

The Surge beat the Vandals in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Shrimp McDaniel produced in the bottom of the seventh. Batting against Alejandro Abasi, McDaniel gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he hit a 2-run single.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," McDaniel said.
