|
Wheelers second baseman Nolan Bates put his stamp on his team's 12-4 win over the Puerto Rico Ranas. Bates was 4 for 5 with 4 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Anchorage in the contest. Ivy Nurple got credit for the win, improving to 3-3. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits in 7 innings. With the win over Puerto Rico, the Wheelers improved to 27-16.
The Wheelers got a big hit from center fielder Rex Jordan. Facing Puerto Rico pitcher Harry Berry [BOT] in the top of the ninth, Jordan pounded a 3-run home run to left-center. His 10th home run of the season put the Wheelers ahead, 12-4.
