Flamingos Win by Slim Margin, 9-8
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Florida-Kansas City ballgame.
The Florida Flamingos turned back the Kansas City Hepcats, 9-8, at Center for Kansas City Kids That Can't Read Good. Darius Maxwell, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Junior O'Callaghan snagged the win in relief. He goes to 4-0 on the season. Poe Poe suffered the loss.
With Florida trailing 8-7 in the top of the ninth, Maxwell hit a cutter from Poe Poe for a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Flamingos ahead, 9-8.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Florida manager .
Florida goes to 33-20. The win puts them 2 games up in their division.
